On the day A-Level results are announced, the University of Cumbria is urging students not to worry as teams – including current students who have gone through the Clearing process – are on hand to help.

Clearing is an annual process by which students are allocated available places at institutions across the country, including the University of Cumbria's sites in Ambleside, Carlisle, Lancaster and London.

Clearing began on July 5 this year and runs until October 21, with the process becoming more intense once the A-Level results are released.

Signy Henderson, Dean of Student Success at the University of Cumbria (pictured), said: “Whatever your individual circumstances, our expert team of staff and students can provide you with tailored advice and guidance.”

“We know that A-level results day can be a stressful time, so we encourage any students who have any questions to call or contact us. We can discuss your situation and go through the options available to you. It's important to remember that there are always options.

“As a university serving our region and beyond, we are proud to be working on new campuses for Carlisle and Barrow, establishing the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine and recently being recognised for our excellent employment opportunities for students, the vast majority of whom are already in employment or further study 15 months after graduating.”

The University of Cumbria’s study programs include:

• Creative and media arts – animation and visual effects, film and television, game development

• Business and Industry – International business management, criminology, forensics, law, professional police work

• Education – teacher training and education; sports, coaching and physical education

• Health – nursing, midwifery, social work, physiotherapy, biomedical sciences, psychology

• Natural sciences and environment – animal welfare, forestry, forest ecology, zoology, geography

Many offer the option of an integrated foundation year for those students who may not yet feel ready to embark on a full course at Level 6 or equivalent.
