Delaware Treasurer Colleen Davis celebrates the first ABLE Savings Day

DELAWARE – Delaware Treasurer Colleen David celebrates the first ABLE Savings Day.

“ABLE accounts are more than just a savings tool – they represent a significant step toward equality by providing people with disabilities the same opportunities to save and invest as everyone else,” said Treasurer Davis. “The majority of people with disabilities rely on public benefits like SSI, SNAP and Medicaid for income, health care, food and housing. Yet to qualify for these benefits, they can only have up to $2,000 in assets. That's just not feasible and it's just not fair.”

This new initiative aims to increase awareness and local participation in ABLE accounts to enable financial independence for people with disabilities.
Since the program launched in 2018, it has experienced remarkable growth.
