BUSHKILL, Pa. – Recent rainfall from the remnants of Debby and other storms has prompted officials at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area to sound the alarm about potentially dangerous water levels.

The National Park Service said the Delaware River and all access points within the recreation area were closed due to concerns about stronger currents, reduced visibility and debris on the water.

The river was expected to peak at 17 feet on Saturday afternoon and then recede for the rest of the weekend.

The river will not reopen until the water level falls below 15 feet.
