Arrest in connection with Friday night shooting in Newark

Newark police are currently investigating the motive behind a shooting that left one man injured on Friday evening, August 9.According to Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, the incident occurred around 6:32 p.m. in the 200 block of North 9th Street.

Officers found a man who had been shot at the scene. The victim was taken to University Hospital where he is reportedly in stable condition.

Police arrested an adult male suspect and seized a weapon nearby.

The circumstances and motive of the shooting are still being investigated.
