OMAHA (DTN) – Here are the top 5 things the DTN Newsroom is tracking for the week of August 11. Look for stories on these and other topics throughout the week on our subscription platforms as well as at www.dtnpf.com. Note that all report publication times are in Central Daylight Time (CDT) unless otherwise noted.

1. DTN Digital Yield Tour: The seventh annual DTN Digital Yield Tour will be held August 13-16. This year's tour will feature a slight change and will include corn and soybean forecasts from new yield models developed by DTN, including our proprietary historical weather data, as well as insights from farmers, agronomists and others from across the Corn Belt. Watch for ongoing coverage throughout the week, including a full description of the changes for the 2024 tour.

2. WASDE Monday: The latest report on global agricultural supply and demand estimates will be released at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. We will publish our breakout report immediately after the numbers are released and provide ongoing updates and analysis throughout the morning. We will also hold our traditional post-release webinar at 12:30 p.m. with lead analyst Todd Hultman. To register for the webinar, which will be open until the hour, click here:

3. FSA acreage report. On Monday we will also see the first actual acreage report for the 2024 crop season from the Farm Service Agency. The acreage data will be released at 12:00pm and is based on farmers' reported categorisation of acreage as planted, not planted or unsuccessful. It is the first insight into the season into what impact flooding and wet conditions have had on farmers' ability to plant the acreage they planned to plant in 2024.

4. Weather for the week: We'll be watching the continued chance of early frosts in the prairies of northern Canada and how the cold front creating those conditions affects the upper levels of the U.S. Cooler temperatures in the Midwest and central and southern Prairie states early in the week will reduce the chance of rain; later in the week, temperatures will rise again. It's hot and dry in the Delta, hurting soil moisture there. A front moving into the region won't move until next week, but models disagree on whether it will bring rain.

5. Economic reports this week: On Monday, grain inspection reports will be released at 10 a.m., followed by the WASDE and crop production reports at 11 a.m. At 11:15 a.m. we see the latest grain and world stocks of grains, cotton and oilseeds and the trade report. At 12 p.m. the FSA releases the area report, then at 1 p.m. we see the monthly federal budget report, then at 3 p.m. the weekly crop progress report comes out, followed by our analysis of the report. Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. the producer price index and core PPI will be released. At 11 a.m. we see feed grain database updates, then at 2 p.m. we see wheat data and the latest county estimates for hogs and the Economic Research Service's seasonal average price forecasts. Wednesday reports start at 7:30 a.m. with the consumer price index (CPI) and core CPI. At 8:15 am, industrial production and capacity utilization reports are released. At 9:30 am, we see EIA's Weekly Petroleum including ethanol statistics, then broiler and turkey farm numbers follow at 2 pm. Thursday starts at 7:30 am with grain export sales, housing starts and building permits, initial jobless claims, retail sales, and the latest import price index. At 8:15 am, we see industrial production and capacity utilization, followed by business inventory data at 9 am. Friday reports start at 7:30 am with housing starts and building permits. At 9 am, we have the consumer sentiment indices and the Home Builder Confidence Index. At 2:30 pm, the CFTC Commitment of Traders report is out.
