5 Signs of Monsoon Stress in Pets and How to Deal with Them

0

We can help our pets get through the monsoon season more easily and ensure that they are healthy and happy despite the challenges.

Just as we need special care during the monsoon season, our pets are also vulnerable to monsoon-related stress and illnesses.

While the monsoon season brings relief from the heat, it can also bring a number of challenges for our furry companions. Just as we require special care during this time, our pets are also susceptible to monsoon-related stress and illnesses.

Dr. Deepak Saraswat, Chief Veterinarian at Zigly, points out that pets can experience stress during monsoon, which can manifest as excessive panting, tremors, destructive behavior, loss of appetite or increased vocalization. If we identify these signs early, we can create a calming environment and seek veterinary advice when needed.

Dr. Ivanka Fernandez, Veterinary Product Executive at Drools Pet Food, shares valuable tips to ensure our pets stay healthy and happy during the rainy season:

  1. Protection and shelterProvide a waterproof and well-insulated shelter that is above the ground to avoid waterlogging. Make sure the interior is comfortable and draft-free during thunderstorms.
  2. Nutrition and hydrationAdjust your pet's diet to prevent weight gain due to reduced activity, and make sure he has access to fresh, filtered water to avoid health problems caused by stagnant water.
  3. Paw and coat careCheck and dry your pet's paws regularly after being outdoors to prevent infections. Groom your pet regularly to keep its coat healthy.
  4. Parasite protectionProtect yourself from fleas, ticks and mosquitoes with appropriate treatments and clean beds and indoor areas regularly to minimize infestation.
  5. Exercise and mental stimulationKeep your pet busy with indoor games and puzzles to keep him active and mentally stimulated on rainy days.
  6. Veterinary examinationsSchedule regular check-ups to monitor your pet's health, update vaccinations, and address any issues related to monsoon care.

By implementing these measures, we can help our pets survive the monsoon season more easily and ensure their well-being and happiness despite all the challenges.
