One more for gold. The USA will face Italy in the Olympic volleyball final.

Regardless of the outcome, this game will be history-making. The Americans will win their seventh Olympic medal in women's volleyball, making them the winningest nation in the sport. A gold medal would be only their second, however, after winning it all for the first time in Tokyo.

For Italy, however, it is their first Olympic medal in the sport. The world No. 1s have never made it to the semifinals, let alone won. And looking at their results from the tournament, they are well on their way to doing so. Italy have dropped just one set in five matches and beat the Dominican Republic 3-1 in their Olympic opening match. In the semifinals, they effortlessly swept Turkey off the court, giving them the momentum heading into the gold medal match.

It's a different story for the USA, who beat rival Brazil in the semifinals in a five-set thriller, powered by a flu-ridden Kathryn Plummer. The team will have to suppress its emotions to stay cool under the pressure from the Italians, even if they have much more experience in medal contention (five in a row, to be exact).
