0

Seven people were hospitalized on Saturday evening after an apparent “chemical leak” in a building in east London.

Emergency services rushed to the building on Wren Road in Dagenham, east London, at around 10pm following an alarm after several people were suffering from breathing difficulties.

Ten houses in the immediate area were also evacuated. At this point, it is unclear what caused the leak.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the hospital patients were admitted as a precautionary measure because they had “mild breathing problems.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 9.46pm on 10 August to reports of an incident at a residential address in Wren Road.

“We have dispatched a number of resources including ambulance crews, an incident commander and members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).”

“We were on the scene together with colleagues from the London Fire Brigade. We treated seven patients and took them all to hospital.”
