The South Park special “The End of Obesity” now has an official release date.

On the animated comedy’s Instagram channel it was announced yesterday (17 May) that Friday, May 24 was the day it would premiere exclusively on the streaming platform Paramount+.

A description of the TV event, which satirizes Ozempic's weight-loss obsession, states: “The introduction of new weight-loss drugs has a huge impact on everyone in South Park. When Cartman is denied access to the life-changing drug, the kids spring into action.”

In a teaser trailer for “The End of Obesity,” released last week, a doctor says, “It’s time for drastic measures to reduce your weight.”

However, when Cartman is denied the weight loss drug, he recruits Kyle, Butters, Stan and Kenny, who, wearing goggles and lab coats, conduct scientific experiments to find a solution for their friend.

Butters can be heard saying: “We fought our way through the American health care system. I almost died!”

This is the seventh South Park special for Paramount+, following the releases of Post Covid, Post Covid: The Return of Covid, The Streaming Wars, The Streaming Wars Part 2, Joining the Panderverse and Not Suitable for Children.

With the release of this latest special, fans are excited to see when they can expect a new season of the hit series. Season 26 aired over a year ago, so it's been a while. But unfortunately, there's no release date for season 27 yet.

However, we do know that there is a lot more South Park on the way, as the series was already renewed in 2021 through at least 2027, which would bring it to an unprecedented 30th season.

South Park will be broadcast on Comedy Central. It is also available through streaming services, including Prime Video and NOW in the UK, with select episodes on Netflix. In the US it is also available on HBOMax.
