State Police investigate fatal motorcycle crash in Newark – Delaware State Police

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in Newark on Tuesday.

On August 6, 2024, at approximately 5:01 p.m., a Harley Davidson FXS motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Pulaski Highway in the left lane toward Wrangle Hill Road. At the same time, a Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on Pulaski Highway and had entered the intersection east of Wrangle Hill Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Altima turned into the eastbound lanes of Pulaski Highway into the path of the motorcycle. As a result, the front of the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the Altima, ejecting the driver.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 45-year-old woman from Bear, Delaware, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. She succumbed to her injuries on August 8, 2024. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified.

The driver of the Altima, a 24-year-old man from Newark, Delaware, was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Accident Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Officers are asking anyone who witnessed this accident to contact Corporal Grade One D.
