Obituary for Eugene Alvin “Fritz” Entwisle

Eugene “Fritz” Alvin Entwisle, 97, of Port Republic, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 3, 2024. Fritz was born on June 5, 1927 in Forestville, Maryland, to Robert and Edna Entwisle.

After graduating, he worked as a mechanic for Ford Motor Company in Washington DC for 18 years until 1964 when he joined the family business, Entwisle's Concrete Block, Inc., as co-owner and operator, which he operated for over 32 years until his retirement. Fritz was passionate about working for the family business and loved his job. He joined the United States Navy in 1945 and proudly served for one year before being honorably discharged in 1946. He volunteered with the Forestville Volunteer Fire Department and served over 82 years.

Fritz married the love of his life, Cora, on September 29, 1947. They were blessed with two sons, Michael Entwisle (Mary Lou), who predeceased his father, and Richard Entwisle of Lottsburg, VA.

In his free time, Fritz could often be found with the fire department, doing gardening or fishing in the bay.

Fritz was already survived by his parents, his beloved wife Cora, his son Michael and his brother Robert Entwisle. He is survived by his son Richard Entwisle, his daughter-in-law Mary Lou Entwisle, his grandchildren Tammy Downs (David), Melissa Hall, Jeffrey Needham (Shiori), Dania Mahaffey (Dino), Stacy Sandy, Michelle Crisman (John) and Richard Entwisle Jr. He also leaves behind nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on August 21, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with fire department prayers at 7:00 p.m. at the Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, PA. A memorial service will be held on August 22, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at the Brinsfield Funeral Home and Crematory, PA. Interment will follow the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at the Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Robert S. Crain Hwy, Cheltenham, MD 20623. A meal will be held at the Brandywine Volunteer Fire Department, 14201 Brandywine Road, Brandywine, MD 20613.
