New Delhi [India]August 10 (ANI): The Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) has expressed deep concern over the increasing attacks on Hindus, Buddhists and other minority communities in Bangladesh, alleging that these attacks are part of a calculated conspiracy by Islamic fundamentalists to decimate the Hindu population and seize their properties under the guise of reservations.

In his speech on the issue, MRM National Coordinator Shahid Sayeed stressed that the lives, property and dignity of about 13 million Hindus in Bangladesh are in grave danger.

He pointed out that at the time of Bangladesh's independence, Hindus constituted 29 percent of the population, but today this proportion has fallen to less than 9 percent.

Sayeed warned that Bangladesh was in danger of following Pakistan's example if strict measures were not taken to curb these attacks.

He stressed that the ongoing movement against reservations in Bangladesh appears to have been just a pretext, as violence against Hindus continues unabated and their homes, shops and temples are being systematically targeted – indicating a well-orchestrated campaign against the Hindu community.

Sayeed particularly referred to the formation of a new transitional government in which Nobel Prize winner Mohammad Yunus plays a central role.

He called on Yunus' government to take decisive action against these attacks and ensure the safety of the Hindu community. Saeed warned that without stability, Bangladesh risks descending into chaos, endangering the peace and security of the entire region.

At an emergency meeting in New Delhi on Friday, National Chairman Mohammad Afzal stressed the importance of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The members present agreed that with the passage of the CAA, the Indian government would have a more effective mechanism to deal with crises like the one in Bangladesh.

Afzal argued that the opponents of the CAA had committed unconstitutional, inhuman and unjust acts. He stated that with the CAA, India would have been better able to protect minorities in Bangladesh. He strongly criticised the opponents of the CAA and accused them of endangering the security of vulnerable communities.

Professor Shahid Akhtar, another national coordinator of the MRM, suspected that there was a major conspiracy behind the anti-reservation movement in Bangladesh, especially after the ousting of Sheikh Hasina's government.

He alleged that fundamentalists from Pakistan, China and Bangladesh are taking advantage of the situation to oppress Hindus. Professor Akhtar praised Hasina's efforts to maintain good relations with India and her crackdown on hideouts of extremists.

But since Hasina left power, the situation has deteriorated rapidly, leading to an increase in atrocities against Hindus.

National Chairman Syed Raza Hussain Rizvi of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch strongly condemned the ongoing violence in Bangladesh.

Rizvi stressed that Islam is a religion of peace, harmony and brotherhood and that such incidents damage its image.

He condemned the attacks on religious sites, killings and heinous acts like rape, saying that they falsely portray Islam as a violent religion. Rizvi made it clear that the Muslim Rashtriya Manch unequivocally condemns these acts and will not tolerate any violence in the name of Islam.

MRM national leader Abu Bakar Naqvi expressed concern over the rapidly deteriorating situation in Bangladesh, pointing out that Hindus were being forcibly displaced and their homes and lands were being occupied.

Naqvi criticised the Bangladesh government for its failure to prevent these attacks and urged India to take a strategic diplomatic approach to restore peace in Bangladesh.

MRM National Coordinator Dr. Shalini Ali mentioned that while the Indian government is in constant touch with Bangladeshi authorities, the law and order situation there is disastrous. She stressed the need for strong diplomatic and administrative action to restore peace in Bangladesh and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The meeting was attended by 60 people including Mohammad Afzal, Professor Shahid Akhtar, Abu Bakar Naqvi, SK Muddin, Syed Raza Hussain Rizvi, Girish Juyal, Virag Pachpor, Dr Tahir Hussain, Islam Abbas, Mohammad Irfan Ahmed Pirzada, Mazahir Khan and Reshma Hussain, Dr Shalini Ali, Mohammad Ilyas, Shahid Sayeed, Dr Rajiv Srivastava and others.
