Olympic Basketball Games today: USA vs. France are the highlights of the Paris Games

The final competition at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris is the gold medal final in women's basketball, in which the US national team will compete against host country France.

Thanks to a balanced team effort in which four players scored 10 or more points each, the USA defeated Australia 85-64. In a game in which head coach Cheryl Reeve's team never trailed, Breanna Stewart led the way with 16 points and five assists, followed closely by Jackie Young with 14 points and five assists. In the other semifinal, a seesaw game in which both teams had large leads, France beat Belgium 81-75 in overtime.

The U.S. women enter this gold medal match having won 60 straight games at the Olympics, a fact that sums up the team's near-total dominance. Team USA has won nine of the last 12 Olympic events, and Sunday's victory represents its eighth consecutive gold medal.
